Plex Manager provides integration with Discord bots and uses them to do perform the following:
- Send notifications to users. Notifications can be of various types ranging from password resets, exceeding streaming limits or payment reminders. Note that users need to have their Discord ID field populated.
- Managing user roles. Plex Manager can automatically add a discord role to newly subscribed users and remove it once their subscription expires and their Plex access is removed. This process runs once a day.
Create a Discord app and bot
Plex Manager will need to use a bot you create and manage. if you already have one and have the bot token, simply enter it in the Settings. Otherwise, follow the instructions below:
- Create a Discord app, a bot and add it to your server. Ensure that bot has Administrator rights. See this video for instructions (from 1:57-4:30) https://youtu.be/aO4XokwEx6Q?t=117
- Adjust Bot setting to give it proper access by clicking on the Bot on the left and enabling PRESENCE INTENT and SERVER MEMBERS INTENT
- Once the bot is in your server, copy the bot token and enter it in the Plex Manager Settings page on the Discord Integration tab and Discord Notifications tabs.
- Click the test button to test access to the bot
